Description:
Body length up to 2-3 mm. This species is easily distinguished by the unusual structure of its uropods. The endopodite is well developed and two-articled but the exopodite is represented by a pointed projection which is not defined from the basis. Male specimens are uncommon.
Habitat:
L.brevimana is found from depths of 17-140 m in muddy sand; often common in sea lochs.
Distribution:
It has been found off the east and west coasts of Scotland, the coasts of north-east England, western Ireland, the Shetland Islands and in the northern North Sea. Records also exist for Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Italy down to depths of 450 m.
