Boschmaella balani

Description:
Externa more or less rounded and featureless; very similar to Chthamalophilus delarge , but slightly larger and more elongate, with branching roots within the host. Larvae hatch as modified cyprids lacking thoracic limbs.

Habitat:
On Balanus improvisus , attached to the lining of the mantle cavity. Infection rate up to 90%, usually gregarious, up to 40 per host.

Distribution:
So far only recorded from western Europe.
