Description:
Coxal plate 1 small, rounded distally; plates 1 to 4 with the distal margin very weakly serrate, with a few small setules. Posterodistal angle of epimeral plate 3 quadrate, posterior margin rounded. Head with a short curved rostrum, lateral lobes strongly produced, broadly rounded; eyes moderately large, rounded. Antenna 1 slightly shorter than antenna 2, peduncle article 2 longer than article1, flagellum up to about 6-articulate in female, 8-articulate in male, with few long setae. Antenna 2 peduncle article 5 longer than article 4, flagellum about 7-articulate. Basis of gnathopod 1 with a small anterodistal lobe, carpal lobe reaching to the mid-point of the proximal posterior margin of the propodus. Palm convex, delimited by a pair of spines, margin minutely toothed with a few, small setules, dactylus with the inner margin toothed. Gnathopod 2 much larger than gnathopod 1, basis with a distal lobe, carpal lobe reaching to the proximal palmar angle of the propodus, palm weakly convex, margin as for gnathopod 1. Basis of pereiopods 5 to 7 broad with the posterior margin finely toothed. Uropod 3 reaching well beyond uropod 1, inner ramus slightly longer than the outer one. Telson moderately elongate, apex narrowly rounded.

Size:
Up to about 4 mm.

Colour:
Variable, greenish brown and white; orange-red; or sometimes yellowish-green, speckled with red or brown.

Habitat:
Depth range about 0 to 80 metres, usually amongst algae on rocks.

Distribution:
Mediterranean, Black Sea, Atlantic coast of Europe north to the Netherlands and North Africa.
