Description:
Body very compact; coxal plates elongate, plates 1 to 4 forming a continuous shield, plates 5 to 7 also large; urosome segment 1 with a prominent dorsal hump; epimeral plate 3 posterodistal angle quadrate, posterior margin only weakly crenulate. Head with lateral lobes large and broadly rounded, eyes large, oval. Maxilla 1 and 2 plates very slender; maxilliped densely setose, outer plate oval with distal margin crenulate, inner plate narrow and almost as long as outer, palp article 4 very small. Antennae very short; antenna 1 peduncle article 1 large, articles 2 and 3 compressed, flagellum extremely small, about 4-articulate with article 1 large and setose; accessory flagellum 2-articulate. Antenna 2 slender, equal to length of 1, flagellum about 4-articulate. Gnathopod 1 robust, essentially simple, densely setose, propodus equal to length of carpus and tapering to minute indistinct palm, dactylus very short. Gnathopod 2 elongate slender, minutely chelate. Pereiopods 5 to 7 basis broad, merus expanded and prolonged distally, dactylus short; pereiopod 5 merus reaching to distal end of carpus. Uropods short; uropod 3 peduncle broad, outer ramus shorter than peduncle, inner ramus narrow and only half length of outer. Telson quadrangular, apex truncated, distal margin about straight with small group of dorsolateral spinules.

Yellowish, with transverse orange bands.
Habitat:
Depth range from 0 to 75 metres.

North East Atlantic; North Sea and English Channel.
