Description:
Eyes very large in male and contiguous on top of head; in female small and oval. Antenna 1 flagellum small, shorter than peduncle article 3, about 5-articulate; accessory flagellum 4-articulate. Antenna 2 flagellum in female 2-articulate, in male filiform and as long as body. Gnathopods 1 and 2 carpus elongate, moderately expanded, setose, propodus much shorter than carpus, palm oblique. Pereiopod 5 basis very short and very broad, carpus extremely broad and at least twice as broad as long, carpus very much broader than merus, propodus and dactylus also long and broad; merus, carpus and propodus with numerous short strong spines, posterior margins with many long plumose setae. Pereiopods 6 and 7 merus and carpus broad and robust, propodus much smaller and shorter than carpus. Uropod 1 peduncle sparsely spinose, rami about equal length, outer ramus slightly curved with 1 or 2 groups of long setae, inner ramus straight with 1 to 3 long setae; uropod 2 rami about equal and little longer than peduncle, outer ramus with group of about 4 or 5 long setae, inner ramus usually with 1 long seta; uropod 3 densely setose, inner ramus equal to length of article 1 of outer ramus. Telson broader than long, apex of each lobe with 2 short setae.

Habitat:
Depth range from 0 to 30 metres; often found with Echinocardium and Balanoglossus .
Distribution:
English Channel; North Sea to Kattegat.
