Homarus gammarus

Description:
Length variable, up to 500 mm; blue coloured above with coalescing spots; yellowish below. Carapace and abdomen generally lacking strong spines or ridges and only slightly granular. Rostrum rather short and spiny. Strong gastro-orbital groove, with the cervical groove below it. Chelae large, hetero-chelous.

Habitat:
On rocky substrata, from LWST to 60 metres.

Distribution:
From the Lofoten Isles to Morocco, Mediterranean, Black Sea.
