Description:
Carapace appreciably narrowed anteriorly, frontal region produced as a short tapering bifid rostrum slightly upturned and not extending distally beyond proximal quarter of fifth peduncular segment of antenna, carapace surface with numerous hook-setae prominent on rostrum, regions swollen and with tubercles; a spine or spinule approximately midway between subhepatic swelling and basal segments of antennal peduncle; second and third peduncular segments of antenna slender, distally expanded and with ventral spines; eyestalks totally visible from dorsal aspect. Second to fifth pereiopods very thin, merus of second shorter than length of carapace and rostrum, dactylus of fourth and fifth pairs short and strongly curved, spines on inner margin of dactylus of fifth large and well spaced along whole margin. Female chelipeds slender. Male chelipeds stout, propodus swollen, no appreciable 'gape' between inner margin of propodal prolongation and dactylus, propodus and merus spinose.

Size:
Carapace length up to 10.5 (13) mm.

Habitat:
Depth range from 35 to 85 metres, on gravel; ovigerous in February, June.

Colour:
Carapace brownish yellow, pereiopods yellowish grey with touches of brown.

Distribution:
Southern North Sea.
