Description:
Urosome segment 1 with a pronounced angular dorsal keel, upper margin of keel sinuous; keel better developed in male than in female. Epimeral plate 3 quadrate, posterodistal angle rounded, posterior margin convex. Head narrowly truncated, ventral margin convex. Antenna 1 very short, in female only reaching to about mid-point of peduncle article 4 of antenna 2, peduncle article 2 little longer than I, flagellum about 7-articulate; in male Antenna 1 reaching just beyond peduncle article 5 of antenna 2. Female antenna 2 only about half body length; in male as long as body; peduncle articles 4 and 5 about equal. Pereiopod 3 merus without distal lobe; pereiopods 3 and 4 dactylus about straight and equal to combined length of carpus and propodus. Pereiopod 7 basis longer than rest of appendage, merus small and shorter than ischium, propodus oval. Uropods 1 and 2 with small marginal spines; uropod 3 in female with rami only very sparsely setose. Telson elongate oval, cleft to three-quarters length with several small dorsal and marginal setules.

Size:
Up to 10 mm.

Colour:
Whitish, mottled with yellowish and reddish patches.

Habitat:
Depth range from 10 to 150 metres.

Distribution:
North East Atlantic; north and west Norway to Senegal, western Mediterranean to the Adriatic.
