Paramphilochoides intermedius

Description:
Coxal plate 1 small, subquadrate, distal angle with a small notch and a setule; plates 2 and 3 elongate, distal margins weakly toothed. Epimeral plate 3 posterodistal angle with a small tooth. Head with the rostrum reaching almost to the end of peduncle article 1 of antenna 1, lateral lobes triangular; eyes moderately large, rounded. Antenna 1 peduncle articles 1 and 2 about equal in length, each with the inner distal angle prolonged, flagellum about 5-articulate. Antenna 2 longer than antenna 1, peduncle article 5 shorter than article 4, flagellum about 6-articulate. Gnathopod 1 ischium with the distal angle weakly prolonged, carpus with a triangular posterior lobe; palm oblique, weakly convex, minutely toothed, dactylus with the inner proximal margin toothed. Gnathopod 2 merus with the distal angle very strongly produced with a large apical spine, carpus with a short setose posterior lobe, propodus elongate, palm longitudinal, margin smooth with a few small submarginal setules, dactylus with a prominent nodiform process on the inner proximal margin. Pereiopods long and slender; pereiopods 5 to 7 basis broadly expanded, posterior margin finely toothed. Uropod 3 reaching just beyond uropod 1, rami shorter than the peduncle. Telson very elongate, triangular, apex minutely tridentate.

Distribution:
Firth of Forth and the Gullmars Fjord.
