Paramphilochoides odontonyx

Description:
Coxal plate 1 small, rounded; plates 2 and 3 elongate with the distal margins weakly toothed. Epimeral plate 3 with the posterodistal angle prolonged, rounded. Head with a short rostrum, nearly reaching the end of peduncle article 1 of antenna 1; lateral lobes triangular; eyes small, rounded. Antenna 1 peduncle articles 1 and 2 about equal in length, flagellum about 5-articulate with a few long setae. Antenna 2 longer than antenna 1, peduncle article 5 shorter than article 4, flagellum about 5-articulate. Gnathopod 1 carpus with a short setose posterior lobe, propodus with an oblique, weakly convex, minutely toothed, palm, dactylus with the inner margin toothed. Gnathopod 2 merus acute distally with a large apical spine, carpal lobe slender, setose, propodus elongate, palm almost longitudinal, margin finely toothed proximally, smooth distally, dactylus with a large nodiform process on the inner proximal margin. Pereiopods long and slender; pereiopods 5 to 7 basis broadly expanded, posterior margin finely toothed. Uropod 3 reaching just beyond uropod 1, rami shorter than the peduncle. Telson very elongate, triangular, apex minutely tridentate.

Size:
Up to about 4 mm.

Habitat:
Depth range from 15 to 200 metres.

Distribution:
North-East Atlantic; north and west Norway; North Sea, Skagerrak.
