Description:
The male of this species is still unknown.
Urosome segments of female fused; without lateral ridge, uropods inserted laterally. Head with small triangular rostrum. Female antenna 1 weakly setose, peduncle article 1 ventral margin with 4 spines, proximal 1 or 2 spines curved, inner margin with 3 spines of which proximal spine curved. Female antenna 2 moderately setose, peduncle article 4 distal ventrolateral angle not produced, inner ventral surface with 2 paired spines and I solitary spine, article 5 ventral margin with 2 (rarely 1) spines. Gnathopod 1 palm oblique. Uropod 1 peduncle outer margin with 7 to 9 spines, inner margin with 3 or 4 long spines; uropod 2 peduncle dorsal surface with I small spine, inner margin with single distal spine; rami with long apical spines.
Size:
Length of female up to 5.5 mm; male unknown.
Habitat:
Shallow subtidal and lower intertidal; builds tubes of mud on stones, hydroids or other organisms usually in areas of full salinity.
Distribution:
Bipolar, widespread. North Atlantic, American and European coasts; south Atlantic, Falkland Islands; south Pacific, Chile; Behring Sea.
