Description:
Urosome segments not fused. Head with a small triangular rostrum.
Antenna 1 in female sparsely setose; in both sexes peduncle article 1 ventral margin with 3 or 4 long spines, inner margin with 2 or 3 long spines. Antenna 2 moderately setose, setae long, peduncle article 4 distal ventrolateral angle with one large acute process and one or two small accessory processes, article 5 ventral margin with one small proximal process. Female antenna 2 peduncle article 4 inner surface with 4 to 8 spines, no proximal process, article 5 inner distal angle with one small process. Male antenna 2 peduncle article 4 inner surface without spines, small proximal process present, article 5 inner distal angle not produced, but acute. Gnathopod 1 palm evenly convex. Uropod 1 peduncle outer margin with 8 to 10 spines and 1 or 2 setae, inner margin with 4 to 6 graduated spines. Uropod 2 peduncle outer distal margin with 3 to 5 long setae, inner distal angle with 2 or 3 spines.

Size:
Up to about 6 mm.

Habitat:
Found in salt, brackish and fresh waters.

Distribution:
Widespread; Caspian Sea, Black Sea and adjoining rivers, also river systems emptying into southern Baltic and North Sea.
