Description:
Urosome segments not fused. Head with a triangular rostrum. Antenna 1 peduncle article 1 ventral margin with about 15 long setae; female antenna 1 moderately setose, peduncle article 1 ventral margin with 3 spines, inner margin with 1 or 2 proximal spines; male antenna 1 moderately setose, peduncle article 1 ventral margin with lamellar expansion. margin with 3 to 5 small or very small spines, inner margin without spines. Female antenna 2 peduncle article 4 distal ventrolateral angle with single long acute process, inner ventral surface with one spine: male antenna 2 sparsely setose. peduncle article 4 distal ventrolateral angle with single long slender curved process (shorter than in female), inner surface without spines. Gnathopod 1 palm evenly convex. Uropod 1 peduncle outer margin with 7 or 8 spines, inner margin with 2 or 3 spines: uropod 2 peduncle with 3 or 4 dorsal spines; uropod 3 peduncle with distolateral angle produced.
Size:
Up to about 9 mm.
Habitat:
Builds mud burrows in clay or sand in fresh or weakly brackish habitats, occasionally constructs mud tubes on fixed substrata in association with Corophium lacustre .
Distribution:
Southern North Sea, Baltic: The Netherlands, France, Germany, Poland and British Isles.
