Description:
Epimeral plate 3 with the distal angle quadrate. Head with small eyes, rounded-oval, pale red in colour. Antenna 1 short and robust, only little shorter than 2, flagellum about 8 to 10-articulate. Antenna 2 flagellum 10 to 15-articulate; antennae weakly setose. Gnathopod 15 basis narrow proximally with small anterior lobe, carpus with very prominent lobe, propodus narrowly rectangular, palm transverse. Gnathopod 1 in female carpus with small posterior lobe, propodus more oval, palm oblique and convex. Gnathopod 2 in male basis with very large anterior lobe, propodus very large and robust, oval, mid-posterior margin almost straight, anterior margin strongly curved, palm oblique, sinuous, delimited by small spine, palm may be strongly sinuous in large specimens. Gnathopod 2 in female larger than 1, basis with large anterodistal lobe, carpal lobe very slender, propodus elongate-oval, palm convex and strongly oblique. Pereiopods 3 to 7 robust, only weakly spinose, propodus with very large striated spine on distal margin, dactylus robust and strongly curved. Uropod 3 ramus little shorter than peduncle.

Size:
Up to 8 mm.

Colour:
Brownish green.

Habitat:
Depth range from the intertidal, amongst algae in rock poo1s on the lower parts of the shore, to about 50 metres.

Distribution:
North East Atlantic; European coasts from Norway to the Mediterranean and Black Sea.
