Description:
Coxal plates short. Epimeral plate 3 posterodistal angle quadrate or with minute tooth.
Head, lateral lobe angular; eyes small and rounded. Antenna 1 about one-third body length, peduncle article 2 little longer than 3, flagellum about 5-articulate; accessory flagellum small. Antenna 2 longer than 1, peduncle article 5 much longer than 4, flagellum 3-articulate. Gnathopod 1 basis broad, propodus narrowly oval, palm strongly oblique and delimited by 2-3 small spines; basis, ischium and merus with plumose setae. Male gnathopod 2 much larger than 1, basis broad, propodus extremely large and robust, palmar margin very irregular, delimited distally by broad toothed lobe and proximally by 2 long processes; basis- propodus with plumose setae. Female gnathopod 2 smaller than in male but generally similar except palmar margin delimited proximally by small rounded process only. Pereopods 3-4 robust, basis and merus with plumose setae. Pereopods 5-7 slender, elongate, without plumose setae. Uropod 3 inner ramus straight, outer ramus with hooked apical spine.

Size:
Up to 5 mm.

Colour:
Yellowish with brown markings.

Habitat:
Depth range from 0 to 60 metres, often amongst sponges or Laminaria holdfasts.

Distribution:
Mediterranean; Black Sea; Atlantic coast of France and British Isles; English Channel. Not widely recorded.
