Orchomene pinguis

Description:
Urosome segment 1 with a small depression on the dorsal margin; coxal plates 1 to 4 long and broad; epimeral plate 3 quadrate, posterior margin weakly crenulate. Head with the lateral lobes prominent, narrowly produced; eyes narrow, kidney-shaped. Antenna 1 peduncle article 1 large, articles 2 and 3 strongly compressed, flagellum about 8-articulate: accessory flagellum 4-articulate. Gnathopod 1 short and robust, propodus longer than the carpus, narrowing slightly to the small transverse palm. Inner ramus of uropod 3 in female naked and much shorter than the outer one, outer ramus with few short spinules; in male inner margins of rami with long plumose setae. Telson as in Orchomene nanus , but each lobe with two marginal spines.

Size:
Up to 7.5 mm.

Colour:
Whitish; eyes red.

Unknown.

Distribution:
Arctic Sea to Skagerrak and Helgoland. Elsewhere, Mediterranean.
