Description:
Coxal plates setose; plate 1 very broad distally. Head elongate and narrowly produced anteriorly, rostrum small and straight reaching to the end of, or slightly beyond, the peduncle article 1 of antenna 1; eyes large, oval. Female antenna 1 little longer than peduncle of antenna 2, peduncle articles 1 and 2 about equal length, flagellum shorter than peduncle, up to about 15-articulate. Male antenna 1 equal to length of peduncle of antenna 2, flagellum longer than peduncle, up to about 20-articulate, articles with dense array of setae. Female antenna 2 peduncle articles 4 and 5 about equal length, flagellum up to about 20-articulate. Male antenna 2 as long as body, peduncle robust, flagellum filiform. Gnathopod 1 carpal lobe short and rounded, strongly setose, propodus narrowly oval, palm weakly convex, margin setose. Gnathopod 2 similar to gnathopod 1. Pereiopods 3 and 4 moderately setose, dactylus almost as long as propodus. Pereiopods 5 and 6 robust, basis with numerous long plumose setae, dactylus elongate, almost straight. Pereiopod 7 very long, robust, propodus and dactylus with long setae on posterior margin. Telson entire, apex rounded.

Colour:
Whitish, with a reddish tinge.
Habitat:
Depth range from 10 to 500 metres.
Distribution:
North East Atlantic, North Sea; European coasts from west Norway to north west France; frequently recorded and locally common.
