Description:
Pleon segments setulose dorsally in female. Coxal plates 1 to 3 with the posterodistal angle rounded, distal margin with several plumose setae. Posterodistal angle of epimeral plate 3 with a large curved tooth, the tooth better developed in female than in male. Rostral hood with a large tooth on the lateral margin. Antenna 1 peduncle article 1 very large, much longer than 2 and 3 combined, flagellum about 6-articulate; accessory flagellum 5-articulate. Antenna 2 flagellum about 6-articulate. Gnathopod 1 generally similar to 2 except slightly smaller and more slender; in female propodus narrowly oval with palm convex and strongly oblique delimited by acute process and slender spine; in male gnathopods more slender than in female, gnathopod 1 palm not delimited, gnathopod 2 palm delimited only by small spine. Pereiopods 3 and 4 robust and densely setose, carpus oval with very long robust spines on posterodistal margin. Pereiopod 5 basis slender, merus, carpus and propodus densely setose. Pereiopod 6 very elongate, robust and spinose, dactylus very long and spiniform. Pereiopod 7 basis, posterior margin with about 10 to 12 distinct teeth; in male posterior margin almost smooth. Uropod 3 in female outer ramus weakly spinulose, inner ramus equal to length of article 1 of outer ramus; male uropod 3 rami very slender, about equal. Telson short, rounded, deeply cleft.

Up to 5 mm.

Colour:
Greyish white.

Habitat:
Depth range from 10 to 400 metres; usually on mud or clay sediments; locally common.

Distribution:
North East Atlantic; Arctic Ocean; North Sea; European coasts from northern Norway and Barents Sea to Bay of Biscay.
