Parapleustes bicuspis

Description:
Body slender, pleon segments 1 and 2 each with small dorsal tooth, dorsal teeth variable in size especially anterior tooth which may be very small and indistinct Coxal plates 1-3 posterodistal angle with 1-2 small teeth. Epimeral plate 3 distal angle with distinct tooth. Head with small rostrum, lateral lobes small, triangular, rounded distally; eyes moderately large, oval, dark red in colour. Antenna 1 slender, two-thirds body length, flagellum about four times length of peduncle, multi-articulate. Antenna 2 much shorter than 1. Gnathopod 1 basis with anterior margin setose, merus acute distally, propodus elongate oval, palm spinose. Gnathopod 2 little larger than 1, generally similar, basis without antero-marginal setae. Pereopods slender, spinose; pereopods 5-7 basis oval with posterior margin finely toothed. Uropod 3 outer ramus little more than half length of inner ramus. Telson with apex broadly rounded.

Size:
Up to 12 mm.

Colour:
Whitish or yellowish mottled with red or brown.

Habitat:
Depth range from 5 to 120 metres.

Distribution:
Arctic Ocean; North Atlantic, American and European coasts; northern Norway to north west France; North Sea.
