Description:
Body very short and broad; pereion segment 4 much longer than rest and with a low rounded dorsal keel; urosome segment 1 also with a dorsal keel. Coxal plate 1 extremely small, plates 2 and 3 very elongate, plate 4 extremely large. Epimeral plate 3 quadrate. Eyes small and rounded. Antenna 1 and 2 very short, only about one quarter body length, slender. about equal; antenna 1 peduncle article 1 robust and equal to length of articles 2 and 3 combined. anterodistal angle strongly produced, flagellum about 8-articulate. Antenna 2 peduncle articles 4 and 5 about equal. flagellum about 7-articulate. Gnathopod 1 simple, slender, propodus about equal to length of carpus, palm not delimited. posterior margin with about 3 long setae, margin microscopically toothed. Gnathopod 2 only moderately large, propodus subrectangular, tapering proximally, palm weakly oblique, palmar margin much less than half length of posterior margin delimited by small tooth and 1 or 2 spinules, palmar margin distinctly toothed. Pereiopods 5 to 7 elongate and very slender. sparsely setose. basis slender, merus scarcely expanded and only slightly produced distally. Uropods 1 and 2 slender, rami devoid of spines; uropod 3 peduncle short with single distal spine. Telson elongate oval, with 2 pairs of small dorsolateral spines, apex rounded.
Size:
Length about 2 to 4 mm.
Habitat:
Depth range from 10 to 200 metres.
Distribution:
North Atlantic, west Greenland, Iceland, south and west Norway, British east coast.
