Gyge branchialis

Description:
Female body oval; pleon segments distinct and with small, vesicle-like uniramous pleopods on pleon segments 1 to 5; uropods present as a very small pair of pointed terminal projections. Oostegites overlap ventrally in adult females. Male pleotelson with distinct segments, and with distinct but small uniramous uropods.
Females 12 x 9 mm, males 5 mm.

Habitat:
This species is recorded from the gill chamber of the mud-burrowing decapods Upogebia deltaura and Upogebia stellate .

Distribution:
A southern species on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts of France and in the Adriatic.
