Pleurocrypta longibranchiata

(Bate & Westwood, 1868)

Description:
Female asymmetrically pyriform, with an acute cornered cephalon. Pereion with prominent lateral plates, which are more or less contiguous; oostegites overlapping ventrally in adult. Pleon segments well-defined, with fairly long and pointed lateral plates and long projecting, tuberculate pleopods; uropods present. Male with pleon the segments fused, but somewhat annulate.
Females up to 8 mm, males 2 mm. Colour pinkish in life.

Habitat:
In the branchial cavity of Galathea squamifera .

Distribution:
Recorded from Shetland, Isle of Man and Plymouth.
