Typhlotanais aequiremis

Description:
Length up to 2.5 mm. Antenna 1 about same length as the carapace.
Chelipeds with well-developed propodus.
Pereiopods 4-6 with the bases unusually strongly swollen.
Pereionite 1 shorter than others.
Endopodite of uropod single-articled, exopodite two-articied and rather shorter than inner rarnus.

Habitat:
This species has been recorded from a number of oilfields in the northern North Sea at depths of 100-160m, where it constructs tubes of coarse sand grains.

Distribution:
This species is common on the Norwegian coast as far north as Tromso. It has also been recorded from Sweden and western and eastern Iceland.
